A specialist in labour and education economics at the University of the Witwatersrand.
We’re proud to announce that Professor Volker Schöer, a specialist in labour and education economics at the University of the Witwatersrand, has been appointed as a visiting professor at the University of Tübingen in Germany.
Over the next three years, Professor Schöer will work alongside Professor Dr Taiga Brahm and Dr Malte Ring to lead a cross-continental study exploring how first-year economics students in South Africa and Germany interpret economic data and visual information.
This research aims to deepen the understanding of economic literacy and teaching practices across global contexts. His appointment aligns with the recent signing of a strategic partnership between Wits and the University of Tübingen - an exciting milestone that will open new avenues for research, staff mobility, and long-term collaboration between both institutions.
