Get ready to kickstart your Wits journey!

The Gateway to Success (GTS) programme runs from Tuesday, 20 January to Monday, 2 February 2026, and is designed to help you orientate yourself to the University, connect with peers and support services, and thrive as a first-year student.

Over the two exciting weeks, you’ll dive into a jam-packed blend of academic learning, student life, health and wellness, and campus orientation — all aimed at preparing you for success at Wits.

What to expect?

Academic essentials:

Explore courses like Climate Change and Me, Digital Abilities, Academic Writing, Use of AI & Academic Integrity, and learn how to navigate Wits’ online learning platform, ULWAZI.

Faculty-specific sessions:

Get a head start on your academic journey within your chosen field.

On-campus experiences:

Engage in sessions focused on wellbeing, personal growth, diversity, culture, social responsibility, and community-building.

GTS is a compulsory, blended programme, meaning you’ll take part in both on-campus and online sessions that set the tone for your university experience.
